The opals on this site were hand mined, cut and polished by ourselves.  Our mine is near the small opal mining town of Yowah in Western Queensland.  The Yowah opal field is well known for its Yowah Nuts, an ironstone rock with opal matrix and/or hopefully a crystal centre.  The Opal from this area is very different from the "ordinary" opal most people know.  The opal can be mixed in with black or red ironstone, vitrified clay or silicated sandstone to form the most beautiful patterns and pictures.   There are some truly beautiful picture stones  that have the look of aboriginal paintings The reaction of most people when seeing these stones is, I didn't know opal could be like this, its beautiful.
